Sberbank among world’s Top 3 acquirers

sberbank.jpgThe Nilson Report ranked Sberbank third among the world’s top 150 merchant acquirers, with the transaction volume in the bank’s acquiring network exceeding  20.6 bn in 2019.

The bank has moved to line three in the world ranking as compared to line six in 2017 to account for 6% in terms of transaction volume among the 150 largest merchant acquirers today.

Sber is energetically developing its acquiring business, connecting new partners and offering the market comprehensive innovative solutions quite popular with all customer segments across the country. The number of terminals in the bank's network that exceeds 2.2 mn today is still growing.  Sber also develops dynamically other cashless and contactless payments facilities at offline outlets. For example, more than 220,000 businesses use PayQR service in Russia.

Among other leaders of the ranking are Worldpay, a payment provider, and JP Morgan Chase bank ranked first and second, respectively.

The Nilson Report conducts research in the global card and payment industry. The company publishes an eponymous newsletter recognized by market players. The Nilson Report named Sberbank the largest merchant acquirer in Europe in 2016 and 2017.
