Huawei acquires intellectual property rights of Russian biometrics developer

Among other things, Vocord designs cameras and software for facial recognition systems. 8 years ago, the company received a 20 m ruble ($350,000) grant from the Skolkovo Foundation. It owns 11 patents for inventions and 6 software patents. In 2016, a facial recognition algorithm developed by Vocord was rated first at MegaFace Challenge, a competition initiated by the University of Washington.

NtechLab CEO Alexander Minin believes Huawei might be interested in smart HD-cameras developed by Vocord.
