UnionPay International (UPI) announced the completion of the integration of its ATM and POS network with Belagroprombank, one of the largest banks in Belarus. This allowed UPI to significantly increase the reach of its acquiring network in the country.

UPI is committed to expanding the capabilities of its services by developing a payment network in Belarus. Currently, UnionPay cards are accepted in more than 65% of ATMs and merchants’ POS terminals, most of them supporting acceptance of contactless QuickPass payments.

The development of UnionPay in Belarus is energetically supported by local UPI partners, including strong partnerships with the most of major banks, such as Belgazprombank, which has been issuing UnionPay contactless cards in the Belarusian market since 2019. UPI expects more financial institutions and merchants to join the UnionPay family, enabling potential cardholders to enjoy a secure, fast and convenient service.

UPI in collaboration with Belgazprombank launched a cashback campaign aimed at increasing the issue of new UnionPay cards. Under the terms of the campaign, when paying with a UnionPay card issued by Belgazprombank within the period from 12 July to the end of September 2021, new cardholders can get a 5% cashback on any non-cash transaction amount, but not more than BYN150 per month.  Holders UnionPay cards issued before 12 July 2021 will be able to get a 2% cashback, but not more than BYN 100 per month. This campaign was appreciated by the holders of UnionPay cards issued by Belgazprombank.

Belgazprombank customers can get UnionPay contactless cards in Belarusian rubles and foreign currencies (US dollars, euros and Russian roubles), as well as enjoy special privileges and promotions within the UnionPay loyalty programme.
