Network International, the leading enabler of e-commerce in the Middle East and Africa, has offered its merchants in the UAE the technical capability to accept Mir cards.

On October 4, the Mir payment system CEO made one of the first transactions with a Russian payment card at Dubai International Airport Duty Free in the presence of the top officials of Network International and Dubai Duty Free.

Network International is now connecting POS terminals of its partner merchants to enable Mir card acceptance in Dubai and other regions of the UAE. All POS terminals in the network are to be configured to accept Russian cards by the end of 2021.

“Dubai and other emirates of the UAE are among the preferred vacation destinations for Russians, and our cooperation with Network will allow them to pay with Mir cards this very season at popular retail outlets serviced by the company, including Dubai Duty Free,” said Mir payment system CEO Vladimir Komlev.

“Russia is a key market for several merchant segments in the UAE, especially in the hospitality and retail sectors, and we are delighted to play our part in helping Russian shoppers to feel comfortable when using their Mir cards,” said Ahmed Bin Tarraf, Regional President, UAE, Network International.

In June 2021, a memorandum on the development of cooperation between the Mir payment system and Network International was signed at the SPIEF site.
