Sberbank plans to launch pilot sales of Islamic banking products in 1H 2022, says Sber SVP Oleg Ganeev.

“As regards retail products, we undertook a ‘home assignment’ – that is to prepare, starting from the beginning of next year, a small specialized line of retail products, which will not be immediately introduced by us widely, but rolled out point-wise in those territories where the North Caucasus and the Chechen Republic are located, with pilot projects implemented through small specialized service points,” TASS cites Oleg Ganeev as saying.

Ganeev notes that some groundwork in the field of Islamic retail financing has been already done today. Thus, clients have access to leasing services and a charitable payments platform.

Sberbank also plans to open sales outlets in the North Caucasus, where it will offer retail customers a number of tailored products, added the senior vice president of the bank.
