Sberbank launches Vzhooh for contactless payments on iPhone
Vzhooh (a Russian exclamation similar to Whoosh) from Sberbank is a technology for contactless payment on iPhone similar to Apple Pay, which uses Bluetooth instead of NFC. iPhone owners will again be able to pay with their devices. For now, the functionality is only available to Sberbank clients, but other banks can install it as well.
Sberbank announced the global launch of the Vzhooh project allowing payments that require no Internet connection – the start page of the application is enough for this purpose. Vzhooh payments by iPhone will be only accepted on new Sber’s biometric POS terminals (without buttons).
No special settings are required for payment: it is enough to install the new version of SberBank Online and give the application permission to use Bluetooth.
The Vzhooh function is based on the Volna (Wave) technology from NSPK, which has been tested in Russia since 2024. T-Bank, VTB, Alfa Bank and other banks are preparing their solutions based on Volna.
