Holders of Mir cards issued by several Russian banks can pay for purchases with Apple Pay.

Eight large banks connected Mir cards to the Apple Pay mobile wallet on July 20.

According to the NSPK, the service is now available for clients of Sberbank, VTB, Rosselkhozbank, PSB, Post Bank, Center-Invest Bank, Tinkoff Bank and Primsotsbank.

“Connecting to Apple Pay will provide Mir cardholders with another convenient, fast and secure contactless payment method. Users will also enjoy all the benefits of paying with Mir such as metro fares at a discount, cashback for purchases from the Mir payment system partners and other relevant offers,” said Vladimir Komlev, CEO of the Mir payment system.

Users can also pay for their purchases with Apple Pay on their iPhone, iPad or Mac in applications and websites open in Safari, without the need to create accounts or complete lengthy payment forms. Apple Pay is also available when paying for purchases in Apple Watch apps.
