According to a survey by ESET, those account for 38%.

The number of those who believe the domestic softwarMail.ru_cr.jpge is of poor quality turned out to be 10% less (28%). The rest of respondents admitted that they did not find this issue important. Interestingly, the Russian software proponents include more women than men, and people of the older generation (aged 55-65) prevail.

On April 1, Russia introduces mandatory pre-installation of Russian software on devices.

The experts analyzed the attitude of Russians towards replacing foreign software with Russian counterparts. It turned out that every third user is positive about the migration to a Russian product and thinks that compatriots underestimate domestic products. However, 24% of the respondents disagree and believe that foreign software is better.

As regards the attitude of Russians to the new law, the opinions of the country residents were divided. More than a third (33%) of the respondents believe that the law will boost the development of the Russian IT industry and support domestic creators. 26% of the respondents, on the contrary, are confident that the innovation will have an adverse effect on competition and the quality of Russian software. A minority does not find this issue important.

Nevertheless, almost a third (29%) of the respondents are going to remove the software preinstalled after the introduction of the new regulations. Instead, users intend to install a free foreign analogue (56%) or a paid foreign application (22%). Another 9% of the respondents said that they would choose paid Russian software.

“As polls show, a person seeks freedom of choice, but still with an eye on the global market. Gifts from the fairy godmother may seem to be benchmark, but when it comes to the test by the global market, they may turn into an unsafe pumpkin or provide stripped down content if we talk about search and media resources. Competition helps develop not only the product, but also the customers, who should consume versatile information, see different opinions and make their own decisions,” comments Anton Ponomarev, Head of Corporate Sales at SET.
