That’s the second time that the International PLUS-forum “Banks and Retail. Digital Transformation and Interaction” takes place in the capital of Uzbekistan, the republic demonstrating the most dynamic economic growth in the region. During two days, the International Hotel in Tashkent became the main platform in the Central Asian region for productive business communication of financial market participants and professional experts who are fintech and retail headliners.

The PLUS-Forum, held with the support of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, brought together over 1.5 thousand delegates from 51 countries. More than 150 experts from various international and regional companies presented their reports at panel sessions and round tables. The exhibition held as part of the Forum was attended by 79 companies who were the PLUS-Forum partners and sponsors. Innovative technologies in fintech, banking, public sector services and retail were demonstrated at their stands.

In his speech, Deputy Chairman and Board Member of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilhomjon Abdugafarov noted: “The success of last year's PLUS-Forum made it possible to broaden the agenda of the event this year and invite more participants.”

Visa was the title sponsor of the PLUS-Forum. Speaking at the Forum, Cristina Doros, Visa Vice President, Country Manager for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, emphasized: “This forum creates a platform that allows us to discuss what is happening, to see in more details what companies are doing.”

As part of the Forum, UZCARD, the key national payment operator of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Innotech Group, the leading supplier of high-tech solutions for business digitalization, held a Demo Day event to summarize the results of the Startup Bridge acceleration program.

According to popular feedback from the participants, the PLUS-Forum in Tashkent has become an extremely useful and meaningful platform for professionals’ communication, which will undoubtedly form a new impetus for the development of innovations and advanced international projects in Uzbekistan.

In his closing speech, Chairman of the PLUS-Forum Steering Committee Alexander Grizov thanked the participants and, summing up the event, concluded:

    — Now in our digital world, everyone has learnt how to know the value of his/her time that became a kind of cryptocurrency. Everyone has it in his/her pocket. And not a single regulator will ever prohibit the use of this cryptocurrency. And we value this time the most.
