Russian Finance Ministry: residents’ dollar savings should be exchanged for gold
“Our sales of gold to the population increased 10 times. But this is not enough anyway. And, of course, gold should replace hundreds of billions dollars definitely on hands and stashed away by the population in kitchen-gardens, socks, and whatever else... And it is clear that all these savings must be exchanged for gold, which we produce ourselves,” Moiseev said at the annual meeting with state secretaries /deputy ministers in the Federation Council.
The minister noted that the State Duma is preparing a bill for the second reading to authorize the government to establish the procedure for buying gold from and selling it to the population by commercial banks.
