Purchases through SBP grew 12 times this autumn, compared to previous year
Russian Standard Bank studied specifics of Russians’ purchases through the SBP last autumn. According to the bank's acquiring network data, the volume of payments through the SBP increased significantly from September to November 2022 compared to the same period last year.
Interest in the SBP, both from businesses and individuals, continues its explosive growth this year. Due to the noticeably competitive rates, more and more companies are joining the service. According to Russian Standard Bank, last autumn alone, the total number of purchases through the SBP increased 12 times compared to September-November 2021, while their total value increased 6 times.
The average check of such a purchase amounted to 1,289 rubles in the autumn of 2022, compared to 2,504 rubles a year earlier. Today, Russians are increasingly paying through the SBP for both online and offline purchases at the checkout using a smartphone, even without a wallet in their pocket. Canceled purchases are refunded online, which is always beneficial and convenient for buyers.
Methodology: the study was based on the data of the bank's acquiring network as regards all purchases through the SBP made with the cards of all banks for September-November 2022, as well as for the same period in 2021.
