Proposed mandatory labeling of calls is aimed at identifying the caller – a  organization or an international, virtual number. This was announced by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting, the Cabinet's social networks inform.

Under the order of the President, the current laws will be amended to prevent situations where intruders can use information technology to gain access to citizens' savings and misappropriate them.

In particular, a mandatory labeling of calls is proposed to identify where the call is coming from – an organization or an international, virtual number. The information will be displayed on the phone screen.

It also provides for the possibility to opt out of advertising calls and messages in order to protect citizens from unwanted calls and mass mailings made without prior consent. Government agencies, telecom operators and banks will no longer be able to use foreign messengers when communicating with people, which will help to avoid impersonification scam.

Fraudsters' voices are supposed to be recorded and entered in a special information system to identify suspicious actions and block them in a timely manner.

“The additional measures will allow more tools to be used for protection against risks in the digital environment. We will continue to do whatever is necessary to help people to avoid being duped, save their money and their real estate,” Mishustin noted.
